About Hurstpierpoint College
The College comprises a Sixth Form, Senior School, Senior Prep and Junior Prep with 1,300 pupils in all. Over half the pupils in the Senior School are boarders (weekly or flexi). Hurst is a significant medium-sized enterprise in Mid Sussex with around 480 employees and an annual turnover of £35 million pa.
Founded in 1849 by Nathanial Woodard, Hurst is a Church of England College. The Christian ethos underpins College life but we are a diverse community; we welcome those of other faiths, or no faith, and pursue an inclusive approach in all that we do.
What particularly strikes visitors to the College is the vibrant dynamic of our community. Situated within a 140- acre campus, surrounded by beautiful countryside, Hurst lies on the border of the South Downs National Park, close to the village of Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex.
The College is a Co-Sponsor, together with the Diocese of Chichester, of the newly formed Hurst Education Trust, a local Multi Academy Trust. The Trust currently has eight local primary schools, although it is envisaged it will grow over time.
Teaching
Hurst has an exceptionally talented and committed common room with consistently high standards of teaching and learning across all departments. We look for experiences teachers to join us and inspire pupils to make the most of their potential and engage with the wealth of extraordinary opportunities available.
Our teaching staff are involved in school activities beyond simply teaching lessons. Teaching staff run co-curricular activities and clubs for the pupils and are encouraged to take part in charity events and initiatives. They benefit from an engaging social calendar of events and access to on-site facilities such as our swimming pool and gym.
Hurst Sport
We firmly believe that sport is for all and offer a wide range of sports to our pupils to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. Hurst has an outstanding sports record in county, regional, and national competitions and boasts excellent facilities with an enviable number of courts, pitches, and AstroTurfs.
We look to recruit talented, energetic, and inspiring sports coaches across all our sports to take our young athletes to the next level.
Our sports staff are offered an extensive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, including fully funded opportunities for ambitious individuals to attain and progress through nationally recognised qualifications for coaching and umpiring in a range of sports.
Support Staff
For Hurst to run effectively, we need efficient and strong Support teams, with professionals delivering a seamless service to our customers and enabling the teaching staff to deliver a superb education to the pupils. Support teams deliver the multi-faceted demands required across the College at the highest level in areas including Administration, Admissions, Estates, Exams, Finance, Grounds, Human Resources, Marketing, and Transport.
