About Hillside Primary School
Working at Hillside means joining a school where skilled, thoughtful adults can make a visible difference. We serve a richly diverse community, and our pupils bring a wide range of languages, experiences, strengths and needs. This calls for staff who are curious, adaptable and ambitious for every child – and, most importantly, who recognise that different children may need different forms of support to succeed.
Colleagues at Hillside are kind, caring and willing to look beyond the obvious when a child is finding something difficult. We work closely with families, senior leaders and external professionals to understand barriers and find practical ways forward. Our multilingual team and our growing expertise in SEND, language development and behaviour help us respond to the wonderful community we serve.
We take a forward-thinking approach to professional practice. Teachers use classroom technology confidently, including digital devices that allow them to model, annotate and respond to pupils while moving around the room. Staff are encouraged to engage in professional development, seek out new learning and share ideas that can improve pupils’ experiences in the classroom.
Hillside is at an important and positive point in its development. The school’s 2026 Ofsted inspection recognised strengths across the school, including attendance, increasingly consistent behaviour, strong pastoral support and a welcoming, inclusive culture. We continue to build on these foundations through a clear focus on teaching, learning and achievement for every child.
For prospective colleagues, this is a purposeful opportunity to join a school with clear direction and growing confidence, but where your ideas, expertise and day-to-day practice can still help shape what happens next. Hillside will particularly suit people who want to contribute actively to how we work, take initiative and play a meaningful part in the school’s continued development.
As part of the Active Learning Trust, Hillside benefits from an extensive professional development offer, shared expertise, school partnerships and support with assessment, quality assurance and improvement. The Trust also provides a route into teaching through Active Teacher Training, across both primary and secondary education.
Above all, Hillside offers the opportunity to work with pupils who are keen to learn, value their relationships with staff and bring enormous variety to every school day. It is a place where patience, professional curiosity and high expectations matter – and where committed staff can see the difference their work makes.
