About Highfield Littleport Academy
Highfield Littleport Academy is an area special school for pupils aged 2–19 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). We support pupils with a range of learning difficulties, meeting their communication, sensory, physical and medical needs alongside helping them fulfil their own personal potential.
Working here means understanding that progress looks different for every pupil. For one pupil, it might be communicating a need more confidently. For another, it might be managing a routine, taking part in a new activity, developing mobility, or building a relationship. These achievements matter, and staff at Highfield Littleport take pride in recognising what each step means for that pupil.
Since opening in 2017, our school has grown significantly in response to demand for specialist provision in the local area. The recent opening of our new building in 2026 has created additional opportunities for both new and current staff. This steady growth has enabled colleagues to develop their practice, take on responsibility and help shape the next stage of the school’s development, with many team members taking the opportunity to build specialist skills in areas such as communication, personal care, therapy programmes, independence, safeguarding and wider SEND practice.
As part of the Active Learning Trust, our team is connected to a wider group of schools and colleagues, with opportunities to share expertise, access professional development and build their practice across different phases and settings. That wider support sits alongside what makes our school unique, including the relationships, care and acceptance that shape daily life in school.
We are looking to work with people who are patient, resilient and optimistic. Our pupils need adults who can build trust, adapt quickly and work closely with colleagues to get the support right. It can be demanding, but no two days are the same, and that is part of what makes the school such a rewarding place to work. What matters is a willingness to learn and an ability to keep our pupils’ dignity, wellbeing and progress at the centre of each day.
