Children at Highampton Primary School receive a personalised approach to learning - quality teaching, tailored to their individual needs, by staff who truly care about their happiness, welfare, safety, progress and achievement. Highampton Primary is part of is part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust. We believe that working together allows us to share our strengths and aim for excellence. 

Our well maintained and attractive Victorian school building is set in spacious grounds with stunning views across Dartmoor National Park. We believe that children thrive from a blend of theory and experiential learning. We are fortunate to be able to provide a range of outdoor learning experiences onsite to enrich the curriculum using the large playground and field, forest school area and surrounding environment.  

The thriving Pre-school is adjacent to the school in the village hall. The school has use of this space for Gymnastics, indoor PE, performances and a range of community events.

Local Government Pension Scheme (Peninsula Pensions) 

The LGPS is a national pension scheme for people working in local government or working for other employers that participate in the scheme. The LGPS is one of the largest pension schemes in the UK. It is a defined benefit pension scheme which means your pension is based on your salary and how long you pay into the Scheme. Your pension is not affected by how well investments perform. The LGPS provides you with a secure and guaranteed income every year when you stop working. 

Members Hub | Teachers Pension 

As a member of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, you are contractually enrolled into the Scheme from day one. You receive a guaranteed pension through the Teachers' Pension Scheme. It is a defined benefit scheme, registered with HM Revenue and Customs, based on your salary and service rather than investments - so there will be no nasty surprises when you come to claim your pension. Your pension will be a regular source of income when you retire - but you can also take some of it as a tax-free lump sum. You will join the career average arrangement and accrue benefits each year based on 1/57th of your pensionable salary including overtime.
