At Green Meadows Academy, we are proud to welcome you to our school! Based in Guiseley and operating as a proud member of the Wellspring Academy Trust, our aim is simple: to offer fantastic learning opportunities and a lifeline of support for children and young people aged 4 to 19 who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities.

Led by a team of outstanding staff with a values driven, child centred approach to education, our pupils sit firmly at the heart of everything we do. From the moment you step through our doors, you will find a dedicated team of highly skilled teachers, learning support assistants, and an experienced pastoral team working closely with families to offer our pupils the best opportunities possible.

Whether our students are learning at our Primary School, our Secondary School, our Post-16 Sixth Form, or through our successful mainstream school partnerships, we nurture, support, and guide each of them to challenge barriers, build positive relationships, and realise their full potential.

Our Core Mission

We believe that the sky is the limit for our pupils, anchoring everything we do in three core values to create an environment that is inspiring, creative, and purposeful:

• Be Ready, Respectful, and Safe: These three values guide our entire school day. We start every morning with a healthy, shared breakfast to reinforce these values, celebrate successes, and prepare students mentally and emotionally for the day ahead. We treat everyone with dignity, kindness, and mutual respect.

• Unconditional Positive Regard: Inspired by the psychologist Carl Rogers, we believe that people flourish when their environment is good enough. We accept, care for, and nurture every single student for exactly who they are. By building a culture of trust and empathy, we create a safe space where every pupil can grow and thrive.

• Personalised Curriculum Pathways: We have created four unique curriculum pathways built around our students' individual needs to prepare them for adulthood, continuing education, work, or training. With small class sizes ranging from 6 to 14 learners, we make sure every child receives the tailored support they need.

Our Dynamic School Settings

• GMA Primary School: We meet the needs of our younger pupils using a supportive "primary model" where class teachers deliver a broad range of subjects tailored to individual needs. Communication and interaction are central here, with learning happening outside the classroom just as much as inside, alongside Makaton and sensory support.

• GMA Secondary School: Students focus on core areas like English, Maths, Science, and PSHE with specialist teachers. As they grow, we focus heavily on practical qualifications, functional skills, and life skills like Food Technology, alongside exciting collaborative whole school projects.

• GMA Post-16 / Sixth Form: Young people can choose from exciting options tailored to employment or independence. Opportunities include ASDAN qualifications, attending an FE college one day a week, Independent Travel Training, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and supported internships to become truly "job ready."

• GMA Partnerships: We have long standing partnerships with local schools (Rawdon St Peter's, Brudenell Primary, Allerton High, and Benton Park). Pupils access mainstream classes with support from our specialist staff to progress both academically and socially with their peers.
