Great Kimble C of E school is proud to be part of the Great Learners Trust. The Great Learners Trust (GLT) was established in
2014 in Buckinghamshire with the aim of promoting exceptional learning. We are
now a dynamic group of 9 primary schools, working generously in collaboration
to provide the best possible education for our children. Trust
schools are diverse and unique; this individuality is underpinned by common
principles, a shared ambition and a commitment to working closely together.
Belonging to the Trust enables schools to focus on the essential work of
delivering excellent teaching and learning. The Trust provides high quality school
improvement expertise and frameworks for school leaders and governors,
including strategic planning, financial and estates management, operations,
recruitment and policy development.
What is Special About Our School?
Great Kimble Church of England School is a friendly and caring village primary school, located near Princes Risborough in the heart of a rural community in an area of outstanding natural beauty. You can see the Chiltern hills from the playground and St Nicholas’ Church is across the lane.
In our inclusive Christian vision all our learning community are welcomed and celebrated. All are nurtured and supported to love, learn, live and grow. Together we live out the values of respect, thankfulness, love, hope, forgiveness and endurance. We aspire to be a school community where all can flourish.
The school was originally founded in 1821, having begun as a Sunday School in 1805. In September 2019 it started on its journey to expand from an infant to a primary school and in September 2022 we became an all-through Primary School, catering for pupils from reception to year 6. AT Great Kimble C of E School, we teach in mixed age classes. A mixed age class is one in which there are children who are from more than one-year group within the same classroom. We have 15 reception children in a stand-alone class and our other classes comprise of Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2.
In January 2018, Great Kimble C of E School became an academy and part of the Great Learners Trust. We are proud of this collaboration and the commitment that all schools in the Trust hold to providing the best possible educational experiences for all our children.
At Great Kimble, children have an amazing natural resource on their doorstep. They can walk out of the school grounds into beautiful, diverse countryside. We are very proud of the outdoor learning opportunities we provide at Great Kimble and the children benefit from visiting our outdoor classroom (Smokey Row). Smokey Row is a piece of meadow land close to the school. During this time teachers skilfully plan for creative ways in which curriculum subjects can be enriched from learning outside.
The school’s motto
‘Love, Learn, Live’ permeates all aspects of the life of the school.
