Grange Academy is an inclusive school providing specialist education for pupils, aged 7-16, with a diverse range of special educational needs. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in May 2022 judged the school to be ‘Good’ and we are now on our journey to ‘Outstanding.’

At Grange we are passionate about providing bespoke learning and enrichment opportunities, in a safe and caring environment. Our brand-new buildings have opened this September which have really enhanced the school.

As a school we empower our pupils to feel a deep sense of belonging, believe in themselves and achieve their very best. Our curriculum is creative, and inspiring, supported by a wide range of exciting extra-curricular opportunities. As a result, we have achieved several awards, including the Eco Award and Arts Mark Gold which reflect the school’s commitment to an engaging and effective learning experience.

Our staff work in partnership with parents and professional specialists to ensure that every child has their needs met. We strive to ensure that by the time our children leave us, they have the independence, resilience, self believe and aspiration to step confidently into post 16 education and be positive role models within the community.

Wellbeing, safety, happiness, success and collaboration are at the core of our practice at Grange. We have been recognised as a UNICEF Rights Respecting School at Gold Level – the only special school in Bedford to receive such an award. This recognises the impact of the school’s work in placing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our planning, policies, practice and ethos.
