About Glen Park Primary School

Welcome to Glen Park Primary School

Glen Park Primary is a very successful school, with a strong reputation in the local area. Our aim is simple; to promote a love of learning for our children and to ensure the best possible outcomes in terms of progress and attainment for every pupil, by providing the highest quality teaching and learning possible. We are extremely fortunate to have a highly committed and skilled staff who share the common aim of wanting to give every child the best possible start in life. Not only do we strive to achieve the highest level in literacy, numeracy and all-round education, but we also work hard to ensure children are safe, happy and contribute to our excellent standards of behaviour. As a result, following an Ofsted inspection carried out in February 2023, the school was judged to be providing outstanding provision in all areas.

Our success is also built upon the foundations of a strong team ethos. The school has a very talented, innovative and dedicated teaching team who are keen to continue learning and developing the quality of our provision. Our work is underpinned by our ‘Glen Park Essentials’ which outline our core aims and values within the school.

Glen Park Primary became an Academy school on the 1st September 2016 and joined the Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST) in September 2019. The WeST family now extends to 29 schools. WeST holds a firm belief in giving each child every opportunity to learn and succeed in all that they do. While we are a family of schools who share common values and beliefs, all our schools are unique and hold their own identity. We believe that by working collectively, sharing what works well and jointly developing best practice, we are stronger together and can provide the very best education for our children in our geographical area.

Our children love their school and love to learn. They are friendly, confident and motivated and like nothing more than sharing their learning with visitors to the school. We are committed to ensuring that the children follow a broad balanced and exciting curriculum. Visitors to the school often comment on the positive atmosphere and how it allows all the children to learn and develop to the best of their ability. We also pride ourselves on fostering positive relationships with our families and community, who play an essential role in developing our pupils’ character and their education.

The School has an active and supportive Friends Association that provides valuable items of equipment for the benefit of the children. Many events are organised during the year to provide a mix of social and fundraising activities. We are fortunate to have an on-site Pre- School, which, together with our Breakfast, After School and Holiday Club, are managed privately as ‘Buddies Community Interest Company’. Buddies has its own qualified nursery teacher and support staff, some of whom are also teaching assistants or meal time assistants in the school. Buddies is a valuable asset which provides excellent support for many families.

We believe strongly that the education of a child has to be a partnership between home and school where there is an established bond of trust and support. This is something that we work hard to achieve, and my door is always open to parents, staff, prospective parents and of course our children. I value what everyone has to say, no matter how small they are!
