Working at Foxwood Academy
Foxwood Academy is a vibrant and forward-thinking
special school for children and young people aged 4 to 18. With just over 110
pupils on roll and a team of approximately 60 staff, we are committed to
providing a high-quality, inclusive education for all. Every pupil has an
Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and all experience significant
difficulties with cognition and learning. Around 75% of our pupils have a
diagnosis of autism, with others having sensory, physical, or more complex
needs.
Our school is structured into three
phases—Primary, Key Stage 3, and 14–19—and offers a highly personalised
curriculum through clearly defined pathways. We believe that all children and
young people are entitled to an education that prepares them effectively for
life. Our values and the needs of our learners are at the heart of every
decision we make.
We are proud of our strong track record and our
culture of high expectations, underpinned by effective safeguarding, a positive
climate for learning, and an aspirational curriculum. We are also on the cusp
of an exciting new chapter as we begin construction of a brand new £25 million
secondary school, which will make Foxwood one of the largest special schools in
the region.
Join Our Team
We welcome applications from experienced special
school practitioners as well as teachers from mainstream settings. Experience
in special education is not essential—what matters most is your commitment,
flexibility, and willingness to learn. A comprehensive induction and training
programme is in place to support your development and confidence in the role.
Working in special education is often described
as the best-kept secret in the profession. It offers the chance to make a
meaningful, lasting difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable
learners. If you're looking for a rewarding role in a supportive and ambitious
school community, we would love to hear from you.
Now is a great time to join Foxwood Academy. We
are a successful school with a strong reputation, a clear sense of purpose, and
a commitment to both pupil and staff development.
