Do you want to
develop strategic leadership skills while supporting a thriving school?
Earley St Peter’s
CE Primary School is seeking a Foundation Governor to join its Local Governing
Board.
Why Become a
Governor?
This role offers
an opportunity to make an impact by supporting the education and future success
of local children. It also provides valuable professional development, offering
experience in strategic leadership, finance, and governance. Governors work
alongside professionals from different sectors, broadening their networks and
leadership experience.
Governors play a
key role in shaping the school’s direction, ensuring high standards of
education, and overseeing financial decisions.
We are a large,
diverse, and inclusive primary school in Earley, near Reading. As part of The
Keys Academy Trust, a well-established multi-academy trust specialising in
primary education, we benefit from a strong network of schools committed to
excellence. The Trust provides support in leadership, curriculum development,
and governance while ensuring each school retains its unique identity.
Our school is
built on the vision of "Building Strong Foundations for the Future,"
inspired by the parable of the wise and foolish builders (Matthew 7:24-27). We
aim to provide every child with the best possible start in life, guided by the
values of kindness, respect, honesty, forgiveness, and service.
As a Church of England school, our ethos is shaped by Christian principles, but we warmly welcome governors from all backgrounds and beliefs who share our commitment to these values.
What Does a Governor Do?
Governors are
volunteers who contribute to the school’s success by providing strategic
leadership, ensuring accountability, and overseeing financial decisions. They
help shape the school’s long-term vision, monitor performance, and support
leadership in decision-making. They also ensure that resources are well-managed
and used effectively.
We are
particularly interested in professionals with expertise in finance, human
resources, legal, or corporate governance, but we welcome applications from
anyone passionate about education and community leadership.
What’s the Commitment?
Governors attend
six Local Governing Board meetings and six committee meetings per year, which
are held in person or online, during the day or evening. They also engage with
the school through occasional visits to understand its daily operations.
A full induction
and ongoing professional development opportunities are provided to support
governors in their role.
