About Downe House
Downe House is a leading independent day and boarding school
for girls aged 11 – 18, located in a beautiful 110-acre campus near Newbury in
Berkshire.
Downe enjoys a reputation for delivering a world-class
education, with outstanding academic and extracurricular provision, and
pastoral excellence at the core.
Downe has been inspiring girls to succeed since it opened in
1907. The founding principles - that a school should meet the needs of young
women by prizing individuals and engendering a strong sense of community –
remain true to our values today. Tradition is part of our character, but this
sits alongside innovation – in facilities, teaching, and ambition.
What does a Downe House education promise? There is no
