About this Role

Dorridge Primary School, a large three form entry, community Primary school, would like to appoint a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join their SEND team.

We are seeking a calm, compassionate and resilient 1:1 Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to work with a Year 5 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, primarily related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety and ADHD traits. 

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting this pupil to access learning, regulate emotions, build confidence and develop positive relationships, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team. 

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and understands how anxiety and neurodiversity can impact learning and behaviour. 

Contract:       Fixed Term (this role is attached to a specific child and will end when the child leaves the school), term time (39 weeks per year)

Hours:            32.5 hours per week, across Monday - Friday.  8.30am – 3.30pm and includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Salary:            Band C £26,824 - £29,540 full time equivalent per year.  Actual salary for 32.5 hours, term time £20,198 - £22,243 per year.

Main duties and responsibilities (a full Job Description and Person Specification are available):

  • To supervise the activities of the child inside and outside the classroom
  • To provide care, attend to the child’s personal needs and undertake activities necessary to meet the physical, emotional and educational requirements of individual child.  This will require knowledge of a range of strategies and a high level of skills developed through experience, with regular supervision from teaching staff as and when required
  • To liaise with other professionals to support the needs of the child
  • To work closely with teachers, as part of the Year Group team, to plan appropriately differentiated activities for the child

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Have enthusiasm for working with children and developing their individual skills and knowledge
  • Have experience of working with children that have a range of additional needs
  • Work effectively with other team members, foster and maintain working relationships with colleagues from other agencies
