About Dearham Primary School
Dearham Primary School is a friendly village school with children at the heart of everything we do. Here at Dearham we believe that education is a two-way process where children’s opinions and interests are valued and respected. The interests and aspirations of our children are what drive our curriculum intent forward. We have a wonderful team of dedicated staff, who work hard to ensure that every child is supported by both cherishing and challenging them to fulfil their potential in a safe and welcoming learning environment. Our children are polite, well-mannered, respectful and acknowledge the high levels of behaviour expected at our school.
Our wider school community are welcomed and encouraged to be part of our Dearham School family. We have a wonderful group of parents, who fundraise for our school to provide extra play equipment, technology and funding to support school trips. We hold dear our family friendly events and parents will always be welcomed into our school. If, as a parent, you do have any concerns and want to speak to me, I will always make time to see you as the happiness of your children and yourselves is of paramount importance to me.
At Dearham Primary School we aim to:
- Provide a broad, balanced curriculum which provides rich and appropriate experiences and opportunities to develop each child to encourage high achievement and promote excellence for all.
- Provide a safe external and internal school environment, where children can develop a healthy lifestyle and learn to stay safe.
- Develop positive learning partnerships between school, home and community.
- Provide high quality teaching and support in all aspects of learning and to make learning fun, giving our children the confidence to succeed.

Set on the edge of rural Cumbria, Dearham Primary School truly is a special place. The warm and friendly atmosphere of this vibrant village school welcomes you from the moment you step inside and our students are confident, well-behaved and respectful. There is a culture of kindness and the school values permeate through everything that we do. Our children thrive in a safe, caring and stimulating environment.
Underpinning our rich, broad and balanced curriculum is the belief that every child can achieve. We nurture and inspire every individual to be the best that they can be, setting high expectations and offering strong support. While ensuring academic excellence and challenge, at Dearham Primary School we are committed to developing the whole child, providing quality pastoral care and opportunities for pupils to develop the skills that they need to be successful citizens.
Relationships are based on mutual respect, trust and understanding and colleagues feel valued. We are a team and as part of the Changing Lives Learning Trust, benefit from a range of opportunities for collaboration and continued professional development.
