Coleridge Community College is a small, family and community orientated secondary school in Cambridge for children aged 11-16. It is a school where every child and member of staff is known, developed and supported. We value our staff highly and take workload seriously.
As a school, we aim to bring out the best in everyone and give pupils the opportunity to develop into outstanding young people who are well-equipped for the opportunities and challenges they will face during and after their education. The school focuses on maximising pupils’ life chances, developing them both academically and personally by delivering powerful knowledge and providing an education with character.
We are unashamedly ambitious for our pupils and believe that the school’s first priority is to help them learn. We place this ethos at the heart of every decision we make, asking, ‘Will this improve pupils’ learning?’ We have extremely high expectations of our pupils in terms of conduct, work ethic, uniform and attendance. By doing this, we maximise their progress at school and best prepare them for adult life. We are relentless in our pursuit of the small things that we believe have a big impact on school culture and environment, and on pupils’ attitudes to learning.
We believe that ‘Knowledge Is Power’. We believe in teaching through explicit/direct instruction (Rosenshine and Engelmann) and in utilising TLAC 2.0 techniques.
The school is part of United Learning’s cluster in Cambridge, working closely with neighbouring schools Cambridge Academy for Science and Technology, Parkside Community College, The Galfrid School and Trumpington Community College. This collaboration allows us to share expertise, access to joint services, and enrich the educational experience for all.
For staff, this approach helps to streamline processes and manage workloads effectively, supporting excellent outcomes while promoting a healthy work-life balance, allowing us to support and invest in our staff more effectively.
The bedrock of the school community is built upon excellent relationships between staff and pupils, and between pupils themselves. We promote an atmosphere of positivity and mutual respect throughout the school. We believe that respect should always be given and that all members of the school community should act with humility and understanding at all times.
The wellbeing of our staff is of paramount importance to us, as it cultivates healthy and motivated workforce and promotes pupil wellbeing and attainment. School staff juggle a number of demands and responsibilities every day, and it is important that they receive the emotional and practical support they need to fully support our pupils. We aim to provide a working environment that promotes the wellbeing of all employees and encourages everyone to have ‘good days at work’.
Located on Radegund Road in Cambridge’s CB1 district, Coleridge Community College sits at the heart of a safe and welcoming residential area, with excellent transport links, including nearby bus routes, dedicated cycle paths, and easy access to key city roads – making the school convenient for families and individuals across Cambridge.
At Coleridge, we have sports facilities, including two indoor sports spaces, a large playing field and a 3G all-weather pitch, alongside classrooms of varying sizes, two large halls and an auditorium.
