Welcome
to Cloughwood Academy
Message
from the Headteacher
On behalf of the children,
staff, Governors, and Trustees I would like to welcome you to Cloughwood
Academy. Cloughwood Academy is a school where individuals are valued and
nurtured to achieve their personal best regardless of their needs, starting
points or previous experiences. Children are supported in becoming
confident, resilient, and independent young people, who thrive on challenge,
and are motivated to learn. All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’
which makes each one unique. We believe that the ‘special feel’ at Cloughwood
Academy comes from our nurturing approach and our belief that all children
deserve the right to the best quality education.
I am extremely proud to
lead a team that is committed to promoting children's well-being, achieving
high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our
care. Staff, supported by Governors and Trustees, work hard to deliver a
rich and broad curriculum which addresses gaps in learning and prepares
children for their future education by equipping them with the skills and
enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities, and
experiences of later life.
If you are reading this, it
means that you are considering applying for a position here at Cloughwood
Academy, we welcome visitors and I strongly recommend that you visit the school
before applying for any post (A virtual meeting can also be arranged) – you can
do this by contacting our admin team to arrange an appointment. At Cloughwood
we recognise that staff are our most precious resource, and we are committed to
promoting the wellbeing of all our employees. We offer a wide range of benefits
including Wellbeing breakfasts, a well-equipped and private staffroom, regular
opportunities to give anonymous feedback, access to Tech scheme and Cycle2Work,
Occupational Health Services, Health Shield Cover, and a generous pension
scheme.
We have worked hard at
Cloughwood Academy to create an inclusive culture for our pupils and staff. A
culture which is underpinned by an ethos of respect, integrity, tolerance, and
achievement. We challenge our pupils and staff to be their best possible selves
each day and to grasp the opportunities that are on offer. Working with
children who have complex needs requires a special type of person; To be
successful, you will need to be a compassionate, resilient and professional
individual, with “a cup half full” attitude to life. If this sounds like
you and you are looking for a new challenge, we encourage you to apply and look
forward to meeting you.
Mr Robert Newton
