Hello and a warm welcome to Chetwynd Spencer Academy. We are passionate about our school, our ethos, our culture and providing all our children with an excellent education and enriching experiences to promote a love of learning. We strive to provide the very highest standards of education within a caring, exciting and stimulating environment. Our children are excited by our knowledge-based curriculum and challenged to achieve their full potential whilst living by our one school rule: Be kind.

We have an excellent reputation within the local community and are a friendly school with a great team ethos, both working with children and each other. We continually strive for high standards in school but still have time for fun and enjoyment. The school converted to Academy status on 1st April 2012.
There is something very special about Chetwynd and we are incredibly proud of our children and community. We live by our STARFISH values of Sportsmanship, Tolerance, Appreciation, Resilience, Friendship, Integrity, Sensitivity and Helpfulness. Our school has a dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with our families, parents and carers, the local community and governors. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home, school and our community and we regard you all as active partners in your child's education and value your interest and support.
We are passionate about the development of staff as well as children and were delighted to be recognised as one of only 18 primaries in the country to be awarded Teaching School Status (Lead School) in September 2021.The Spencer Teaching School Hub is one of 87 new national Teaching School Hubs (Sept 2021). These are school-led centres of excellence for teacher and leadership training and development.
