Carterton Primary School (CPS) is an average sized school situated close to Carterton town centre. As the original school in Carterton, we understand the importance of our place within the town community. We welcome children to CPS from the term after their third birthday. Our Nursery is part of our school and is led by a fully qualified teacher. The Nursery is situated in the original school building which has been renovated to provide a light and open indoor room with direct access to a large outdoor space. Our curriculum has been developed to meet the needs of our children and we work on a two-year rolling programme led within our phase teams. Further Curriculum information is available here.

We love learning outdoors, and our large school site creates plenty of opportunities across the curriculum. We have a wild “Nature Detectives” area which gives a space for children to learn and play – and of course have hot chocolate by the campfire! We have a school pond bursting with wildlife some staying in the bug hotels the children have made. Around the school we have dedicated growing areas which are being used to support the local food banks and share with our nurture lunchtime club.
