We are very proud of Buckfastleigh Primary School and its place at the heart of the community. Our school is a vibrant and dynamic place to learn. We are proud to be part of a school where children and staff are inspired to learn, challenged to do their best and encouraged to succeed.  Recently, our school was judged as 'Good' overall by Ofsted. In Behaviours and Attitudes and Early Years our school was judged as 'Outstanding'.

We feel that it is essential that the children of Buckfastleigh Primary feel that they belong in our school. They need to have built strong relationships with the staff in their class and know that they have a right to a high quality education, no matter what their starting points might be.

For us, it is key that the children are ambitious of themselves and that the staff are ambitious of the children they teach and lead. We want our children to have high aspirations, ready for when they continue their learning journey in secondary school and beyond.

We firmly believe that in order for children to reach their ambitions, they need to be taught how to be resilient. This includes learning from mistakes and persevering, even when challenged.

Well-structured lessons comprise of appropriate pace and challenge that are inclusive of all children, regardless of differences, to ensure that all learners achieve their full potential; we pride ourselves in making a difference. High self-esteem is one of the keys to success in life, and we aim to ensure that our pupils leave us as caring, happy and confident young people.
