Beaconsfield High School

About Beaconsfield High School

Beaconsfield High School is a happy, high-achieving grammar school located in the delightful town of Beaconsfield. The school is oversubscribed, and our students consistently achieve outstanding academic outcomes at both GCSE and A Level, making strong progress throughout their time with us. We are currently ranked 7th in The Times Best Secondary and Grammar Schools in the South East and 37th nationally. In December 2024, Ofsted judged the school to be Outstanding in all areas. While the vast majority of our students progress to higher education, we pride ourselves on being truly remarkable by supporting increasingly diverse pathways through exceptional careers provision.

At Beaconsfield High School, education is about unlocking futures. Our vision is to help every student grow into a young person of character—curious in thought, courageous in action, and confident in themselves. This vision underpins everything we do, shaping a school community that aspires to the very best for every learner.

Our mission of delivering inspirational learning, limitless ambition, and empowering support extends not only to our students but to every member of staff who joins our community. Through a thoughtfully designed, research-informed curriculum, we combine academic excellence with enrichment and life skills, enabling our learners to discover their passions, fulfil their potential, and step confidently into the future. We are guided by our cultural pillars—Spur each other on, Choose respect, Be open to the new, and Back yourself—which shape how we teach, learn, and work together, creating an environment in which both students and staff can thrive.

Our remarkable practice is reflected in our approach to performance management, which aligns closely with our ethos of professional trust. This is a developmental process, focused on growth rather than judgement. We are a school dedicated to innovation and evidence-informed practice, with expert teachers who are enthusiastic about their professional development. As a result, Beaconsfield High School is an inspirational place to work. Year after year, 100% of staff responding to our surveys say they are proud to work here. Our students benefit from energised, creative staff who inspire them to achieve their full potential; our most recent Progress 8 score was an exceptional 1.03.

Over recent years, we have invested significant time and thought into developing a flexible working offer for staff, recognising the importance of wellbeing and work–life balance. This remains an evolving area, and we are excited by future opportunities. We already support part-time working, offer enhanced PPA, and allow PPA to be taken off-site. This year, we are piloting a nine-day fortnight, with PPA consolidated into one day that can be worked from home. We also operate flexible meeting times, employ cover supervisors, and deliberately overstaff to minimise cover demands. Our feedback and marking practices are sensible, evidence-based, and designed to be manageable. Leave of absence is applied generously, and both formal and informal flexible working requests are carefully considered. As an academy, we are also able to offer generous school holiday arrangements.

There is a strong sense of energy, achievement, and ‘buzz’ at Beaconsfield High School. Our staff give generously of their time to provide students with a wealth of enriching experiences, including language, history, ski and sports trips, music tours, and Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, to name just a few. Sporting success is exceptional, with several teams achieving national medals. Hundreds of students participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, alongside involvement in debating competitions, mock trials, Young Enterprise, drama productions, and music concerts—the opportunities are extensive and continually evolving.

Student wellbeing is central to our ethos. We believe that young people thrive when they feel cared for, confident, and supported. Our strong pastoral framework and life skills programme, Getting Life-Ready, underpin this commitment. There is something for everyone at Beaconsfield High School, and the atmosphere is one of inclusion, mutual respect, and ambition.

If you are a passionate educator or member of support staff who prioritises both student success and wellbeing, we would be delighted to hear from you. By joining us, you will be part of a school that aspires to the very best—for our learners, for our community, and for you as a professional. If we are not currently advertising a suitable role, please consider joining our talent pool, and we will be in touch to discuss future opportunities.

Beaconsfield High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  Therefore, we expect all workers and employees to share this commitment. An offer of appointment is subject to satisfactory references, DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Enhanced Disclosure and medical clearance.
