Welcome to ACE

Avenue Centre for Education (ACE) is an inclusive and innovative KS3 and KS4 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students in Luton.

ACE has a model of working which is based on the Journey of the Child and commits to personalised, destination-focused contracts of education for all referred students whether they are at risk of exclusion or excluded from mainstream school.

The work at ACE is broadly aimed in providing a curriculum and learning environment that allows students to rebuild their education and successfully return to and sustain, a place in mainstream schools or achieve a post 16 destination of choice. Significant emphasis is placed on working in partnership with families, partner schools, alternative provisions and external professionals, to develop an individual approach for every student which supports their success.

ACE Overview

The Avenue Centre for Education (ACE) provides a wide range of services to secondary age students for and on behalf of the local authority and all Luton’s’ secondary schools.  ACE operates across three main strands:

• Route Mainstream which provides short term, part time intervention via the PRU and supports / reintegrates students back into a full time school placement.
• Route 19 which provides a hybrid educational package, with a vocational focus between ACE and ALPS to support students, longer term, outside of mainstream schooling with their personalised onward transition into education, employment and training.
• Hub Services which provide high quality interventions, many delivered within schools to support students in maintaining current school places and to address specific issues or barriers to learning that may arise.

Central to ACE’s success as a National Support School is the work of the Pupil Progress Management team, who as well as providing a comprehensive assessment service to identify student’s needs, aspirations and barriers, also oversee the formation of personalised learning packages, co-ordinate the deployment of specific interventions and specialised services and provide a provision tracking and quality assurance process.
