About Aughton Junior Academy

A warm welcome to Aughton Junior Academy where everyone can achieve and every minute is for learning! Children are identified as individuals, are valued and empowered to embrace learning, achieve their personal best and build their emotional, social and physical well-being. We will do this by providing a welcoming, happy, safe, and supportive learning environment in which everyone is equal and all achievements are celebrated.

It is a privilege to be the Principal at Aughton and work with such a dedicated team, who are passionate about providing children with an education and childhood that they enjoy, as the Primary Education lasts for a lifetime through memories and experiences.

We support the children to become confident and independent young people, who thrive on challenge and are motivated to learn. All schools have their own distinctive ‘feel’ which makes each one unique. We believe that the ‘special feel’ at Aughton comes from our caring, supportive and friendly learning environment.

We have designed learning at Aughton to be challenging, engaging and purposeful. We offer a broad, enriched curriculum that motivates our children to enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities in sport, music and much more. Our spacious green spaces, nature area and growing fields offers unique opportunities to our children.

Our team are committed to supporting the children's well-being, achieving high standards and providing the very best opportunities for all in our care.  Staff, supported by governors and trustees, work hard to deliver a rich and challenging curriculum; to prepare children for future education; and to help them acquire the skills and enthusiasm needed to embrace the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

The excellent start begins in Reception and continues through the academy with staff providing a happy, supportive and purposeful environment, and a curriculum that excites and stimulates children’s imaginations and creative thinking. Our curriculum is underpinned by reading and we actively promote a love of reading for all children as we know this is the key which enabled them to access and enjoy the curriculum.

We are an extremely inclusive school which acknowledges children’s unique qualities, acknowledges and respects children from diverse family and cultural backgrounds. We actively seek to remove the barriers to learning and participation that can hinder or exclude individual children, or groups of children. This means that equality of opportunity and high expectations must be a reality for our children. We have created a welcoming environment by building a more inclusive curriculum, addressing a range of learning styles, offering a wide array of diversity efforts and programs, and by participating in the wider community. We believe that education should take place in a fully inclusive environment with equal opportunities for all and that all children should learn to value religious and cultural differences. Our school strives to be at the centre of the local community with positive and effective links to the wider and global communities.

Our goal as a school is to equip our young people with the skills and mindset to thrive and then take on the world.

We believe that our children CAN … can do anything they set their mind to.

Mrs Toni Tomlinson
