About this Role

Role Overview

The Level 3 Early Years Practitioner will deliver high-quality care, learning, and play opportunities for children within Athena Activities’ early years provision.

The role requires a qualified practitioner who can support children’s development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child can thrive.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS framework
  • Support children’s learning and development through play-based approaches
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, contributing to learning journeys
  • Act as a key person for a group of children (where required), building strong relationships with children and families
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and inclusive environment at all times
  • Support children’s personal care needs (e.g. toileting, hygiene, and mealtimes)
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of care and education
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing updates on children’s progress

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (as defined by the DfE)
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework
  • Experience working with children in an early years setting
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Paediatric First Aid qualification
  • Experience as a key person
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection
  • Additional training in SEND or behaviour support
