Aston Academy is an 11-18 secondary school which boasts a hard-working, friendly and open community. All students are challenged to realise their full potential in all aspects of their development. Our aim, in keeping with Aston’s mission statement, is that every student is empowered to strive for excellence and achieve their full potential. As such, we provide a broad and varied curriculum which caters for a wide range of learning needs.
We value character and seek respect, co-operation and courtesy from all our students. We want all our students to be ready, respectful and safe every day. My belief is that the ‘golden thread’ of effective relationships with all our students, their families and the wider community will enable Aston Academy to make a difference each day.
Students at Aston Academy are hard-working and share our commitment to ensuring they attain the highest possible levels of achievement in their academic studies. We will not expect students to achieve all of this alone, our staff deliver high-quality care, guidance, education and support in order to ensure that students fulfil your potential, enjoy their time with us and are suitably prepared for the next step. Our students know that we will support them when they encounter difficulties and that all their efforts and achievements will be celebrated by us.
We are equally proud of our Personal Development education. We teach equality, celebrating our inclusive community, where everyone’s contribution is valued. Acceptance without exception is at our core. The most successful students at the academy are those who involve themselves fully in a wide range of extra-curricular enrichment opportunities. We know the importance of cultural capital, being proud of our community, learning about the world we live in and celebrating Fundamental British Values. Through our curriculum, our students have access to these ‘extras’, enabling them to become better citizens.
We work in partnership with our parents/carers, to empower children to take maximum advantage of all the exciting opportunities that Aston Academy has to offer. By the time our students leave us, we strive to ensure that they have developed into fully rounded young people, enthusiastic and able to take their place in society, ready to make a positive contribution to their wider community.
