Arts & Media School Islington is a diverse, co-educational, comprehensive trust foundation school in North Islington, London and is affectionately known as AMSI. The Victorian school building was refurbished with other blocks in 2014 to ensure that the facilities, from the superb lecture theatre to the dance, drama and media studios promote the Arts curriculum. It is a smaller than average school, tucked away in a cul de sac and students are known and cared for whilst addressing the challenges that Inner City London brings.

Values and vision

Arts & Media School Islington’s vision of “every child a scholar” is built upon a strong academic GCSE core, enriched by the arts. The school aims to establish challenging academic goals, which its students are expected to aspire towards and surpass. The cornerstones of its ethos – aspiration, confidence, respect and reflection - are embedded in everyday life within the school community.

The school programme encourages interaction inside and outside the classroom, with an extra-curricular programme which offers a pathway for each student to involve themselves in experiences that support cultural capital, creativity, as well as leadership development. The school has been accredited with the Artsmark Platinum status  by the Arts Council as a recognition of the work that is done to encapsulate their principles.
