Alderman Payne Primary School is a small village school located near to the town of Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. We are a community school that admits 15 children per year into Reception. We also admit children at other times of the year if we have a space, for example if you have moved into Parson Drove village or the surrounding area.
At Alderman Payne we know that the primary phase of your child’s learning is the most important. We aim to use our whole environment, indoors and out, to encourage our children to be inquisitive and curious. In their earliest years, children can develop their interests and passions that stay with them for life. Therefore, we aim to introduce the children to inspirational role models and first-hand experiences to help them find these for themselves to prepare for the next phase of their education and beyond. We provide a broad curriculum and are well resourced to support the children’s skills and knowledge across a range of subjects as well as offering real life opportunities through educational trips and visitors.
We have a wonderful playground and field with a storyteller's chair, giant mushrooms, a trim trail, a den building area and a pirate ship that the children enjoy using. We also have a fabulous library bus which helps to encourage our children to love their reading and we are lucky enough to have our own swimming pool which means that the children learn to swim from Reception upwards.
The children are extremely polite, kind and considerate and it is a pleasure to spend time in their company. Ofsted noted behaviour and attitudes as one of the school’s strengths and this is truly evident when walking around our school and watching the children playing and cooperating together. We have a strong school community ethos of which we are very proud.
