About Abingdon School
The Abingdon Foundation is a vibrant community of approximately 1,300 students and 400 members of staff across our Senior and Prep schools.
Abingdon Senior School is set on a large and beautiful campus in the heart of the town and benefits from impressive facilities. Our extensive sports provision, based both on campus and Tilsley Park, offer some of the best sport resources in the area. In May 2024, we announced our intention to move to co-education and will be welcoming girls to our First Year (Year 7) and Sixth Form (Year 12) from September 2026. Boarding is available from the Third Year (Year 9) and we currently have around 150 boarders at School.
Admission to Abingdon is by selection and our academic standards and outcomes are consistently high. The majority of our students progress to leading universities, choosing a wide range of courses that reflect the breadth and depth of our curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning. Beyond the classroom, students benefit from a rich programme of co-curricular opportunities through our Other Half programme, in which all colleagues are involved. The school places great value on this programme and its role in developing the whole person.
