About this Role

There is one Governance Business Partner role available, with a flexible location of Marlborough or Bristol.  The role is advertised twice as a Bristol role or a Marlborough role to provide candidates with a choice of location.

Excalibur Academies Trust are seeking a Governance Business Partner to join our Shared Services. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated professional to support the delivery of excellence in governance, admissions compliance, risk management, policy management and statutory processes across our Trust.

Working closely with the Trust Head of Governance & Admin and another Governance Business Partner, you will provide expert support and guidance to governors, trustees, principals and clerks, helping to ensure that our Trust operates effectively within DfE and Charity Commission guidance. As Governance Business Partner, you will lead on the operational management and continuous development of local governance frameworks, admissions compliance and policy management coordination across the Trust.

Main Duties

  • Advise on governance best practice, statutory requirements and procedural compliance.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the clerking service for local Academy Committees.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, development and succession planning of governors.
  • Coordinate governance training, networks and professional development opportunities.
  • Support the effective communication between the local layer of governance and the Trust Board.
  • Provide high-quality clerking support for governance panels.
  • Support statutory processes including governance audits, compliance reviews and reporting.
  • Co-ordinate admissions consultation processes & policies.
  • Co-ordinate the management of policies across the Trust.

Requirements

  • Experience of governance with the Education Sector.
  • Commitment to and evidence of Continuous Professional Development activities.
  • Able to work flexibly with conflicting demands.
  • Knowledge of complaints process and procedure.
  • Ability to support board level governance and policy implementation.
