We are seeking to appoint two qualified nursery practitioners to fit well within our welcoming and experienced team. We are a forward thinking and constantly progressing nursery so this is an opportunity to learn new skills on the job whilst supporting children’s play, learning & development.  We also welcome people with experience who would want to share their strong practice and maybe lead on an area of development within our nursery. We are looking for a professional person, who loves the outdoors and with a sense of fun and excitement, to ensure that children thrive within our nursery family environment. 

The Jays Day Care Nursery is run by our co-owners Amy and Gemma. Amy and Gemma are passionate about Early Years care and education. They work daily at the nursery along side the staff team.

We have a bespoke approach to Early Years Education, taking inspiration from The Curiosity Approach, In the Moment Planning and Communication Friendly Spaces. This helps us tailor our child led approach to our early years curriculum.

We are an all year round nursery operating 8am-6pm daily. Working hours would be within these times.

Duties will include:

  • Caring for children Preparing and maintaining environments to meet children's needs Supporting children's play and learning Supporting children's development Preparing snacks and help with their meals and cleaning Skills required: Good Communication Adaptable The ability to work as part of a team Must be able to follow direction from the room leader/manager

Qualifications required:

A full and relevant Early Year qualification from the list of DFE qualifications is necessary to work within childcare ratios at either Level 2 or Level 3.

Applications for potential apprenticeships may be able to be considered.

Personal qualities:

Polite Patient Punctual Diligent Trustworthy Reliable Willing to work within all rooms/age groups (age group preferences can be discussed at an interview) Confidentiality essential

The Jays Nursery is situated just outside of Ivybridge, on the outskirts of Bittaford and Moorhaven. This can be accessed via the 80 (Gold bus) route between Plymouth and Paignton.

Working hours:

The Jays Nursery is open 8am-6pm Monday – Friday all year round. Working hours within this.

All staff are subject to disclosure and barring services (DBS) checks. DBS update service would be advantageous.

Tours of the nursery would be welcomed prior to application.

  • NVQ 2 or 3 childcare (DfE recognised)

  • Nursery experience: 1 year (preferred)
