About this Role

Serenity School Old Palace Croydon is seeking an experienced and passionate SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) to join our growing and dedicated team.

Serenity School Old Palace Croydon is a specialist educational setting committed to supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their full potential. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that pupils receive the support, interventions, and opportunities they need to succeed both academically and personally.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Leading the strategic development and day-to-day coordination of SEND provision across the school
• Managing the SEND register, provision mapping, and ensuring effective support for pupils with SEND
• Leading and coordinating EHCP reviews and monitoring the progress of pupils with additional needs
• Providing guidance, training, and support to staff to deliver high-quality inclusive teaching and interventions
• Liaising with parents/carers, external agencies, and professionals to ensure coordinated support for pupils
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of SEND provision and contributing to whole-school development planning


Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
• Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination
• Has at least three years’ teaching experience and experience working at a whole-school level
• Has strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and effective intervention strategies
• Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
• Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and achieving the best outcomes for pupils with SEND
