About this Role

Serenity School Old Palace Croydon is looking to appoint experienced and passionate SEN Teachers – Primary to work as part of our supportive and collaborative team. We have five positions available for a September 2026 start. Early applications are encouraged as we are actively interviewing candidates.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-quality, inclusive primary provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidates will work closely with the Headteacher, SENDCo and multidisciplinary teams to deliver engaging and differentiated learning experiences that support pupils’ early academic development, communication, emotional regulation and independence.

We welcome applications from experienced SEN teachers, mainstream teachers looking to transition into specialist education, Qualified Teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and unqualified teachers with relevant experience.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Planning and delivering inclusive, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to primary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs

Developing and implementing individualised learning plans and EHCP targets in collaboration with the SENDCo and wider multidisciplinary team

Creating a structured, safe and supportive classroom environment that promotes early learning, engagement, communication and independence

Monitoring and assessing pupil progress and maintaining accurate records to inform planning and reporting

Implementing effective behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies appropriate to pupils’ needs

Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents/carers and external professionals to support pupils’ development

Contributing to reviews, assessments, meetings and the wider work of the school


Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

Holds, or is working towards, a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. QTS, PGCE), or has relevant experience teaching or supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and unqualified teachers with suitable experience are welcome to apply

Has experience teaching or supporting primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs or additional needs

Has a good understanding of the Primary National Curriculum and strategies for supporting pupils with SEND

Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with pupils, families and colleagues

Is committed to safeguarding, equality, and inclusive practice

Is flexible, resilient, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Safeguarding and Pre-Employment Checks
