About this Role

Join Our Team as a Cover Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor (HLTA) to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Working across our primary SEMH provision, you will provide high-quality classroom supervision and learning support during both planned and unplanned teacher absence. You will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning while helping pupils feel safe, valued and ready to succeed.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of classes and year groups.
  • Provide regular cover for teachers during PPA, leadership release time and short-term absence.
  • Maintain high expectations of learning, behaviour and pupil engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and support their emotional wellbeing.
  • Use therapeutic and de-escalation approaches to support pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Work flexibly across the school to meet operational needs and ensure continuity of provision.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
  • Holds HLTA status or has equivalent experience working at a higher level within a school.
  • Has experience of working with children or young people.
  • Can confidently lead whole-class learning and manage behaviour effectively.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.

Experience within an SEMH, SEND or alternative provision setting would be advantageous, as would knowledge of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support approaches.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and nurturing working environment.
  • High-quality professional development and training opportunities.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children with SEMH needs.
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing which includes access to counselling and physiotherapy through Education Mutual
  • A generous pension contribution through the LGPS
  • Opportunity to take on additional hours and responsibilities as you develop
  • Clear career progression pathways, including opportunities to train and qualify as a teacher.

Brighter Futures Educational Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.

If this sounds like the role for you, we would be delighted to receive your application.
