About this Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to deliver high-quality English lessons to pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4. We take a therapeutic approach to education, placing relationships, emotional literacy and consistent, nurturing practice at the heart of everything we do. Our Principles of Therapeutic Education guide our work: we understand neurodiversity and attachment, view behaviour as communication, and use relationships for recovery.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver creative, pupil-centred English lessons—both face-to-face and virtually—working collaboratively with Therapeutic Education Practitioners to support each learner’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes. You’ll bring enthusiasm for engaging neurodiverse pupils, including those with Autism and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, and ensure learning is meaningful, inclusive, and inspiring.

We’re looking for someone who shares our belief in unconditional positive regard, co-regulation, and strengths-based teaching. If you’re an experienced and compassionate educator who wants to make a genuine difference to young people’s lives within a supportive and nurturing environment, we’d love to hear from you. .

Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • Qualified Teacher (holds QTS or QTLS) with specialism in English
  • Differentiate the national curriculum across Key Stages 2-4, and A Level curriculum.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in education.
  • Experience of supporting neurodiverse children and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
  • Be able to offer a calm response to children with ASC and SEMH and always promote de-escalation and emotional regulation
  • A track record of promoting high standards and achieving strong pupil outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Working knowledge of National Curriculum, KS requirements and Code of Practice for SEND.

In return we offer:

  • Competitive salary and terms and conditions.
  • An opportunity to make a real difference and join a leading provider of specialist education, directly contributing towards positive outcomes for pupils with SEMH and ASC.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities with all staff provided an individual Learning & Development Plan to support career development and options to take progressive Ofqual registered Level 3 – 5 qualifications in Therapeutic Education.
  • Comprehensive induction process, including all pupil-facing staff supported in receiving the Level 3 Award in Therapeutic Education and Group Process.
  • Regular half termly staff wellbeing days.
  • A range of employee support and wellbeing benefits including Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), counselling and contributions towards medical costs & an  exclusive rewards platform.

TCES, NOS and Great Minds are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects all staff to share this commitment. The appointment is subject to all relevant checks such as references, medical clearance and a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.

We are an equal opportunity employer.
