About the Role
Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust is seeking a committed, proactive and reliable Multi-Site Caretaker to join our Estates Team. This is an important operational role supporting the delivery of safe, secure and well-maintained school environments across a number of Trust school sites.
The role will be based at St Peter’s CE Primary School, Harrogate. The successful candidate will also be required to work flexibly across other Trust schools, depending on operational need. Where travel is required away from the base school during the working day, mileage will be reimbursed in line with Trust arrangements. Travel time between sites during the working day will be treated as working time.
This is a full-time role designed to provide greater flexibility, resilience and consistency across the Trust’s estate. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, particularly in relation to working across multiple school environments, site-specific procedures and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will
undertake a broad range of practical responsibilities, including:
- Site security, including opening and closing
premises
- Routine maintenance and basic repairs
- Health and safety checks and compliance
monitoring
- Statutory and premises-related checks,
including visual inspections and basic compliance tasks
- Porterage, deliveries and room setup
- Grounds maintenance and general upkeep
- Painting, basic DIY and practical improvement
works
- Supporting contractors and ensuring works are
completed safely
- Responding to day-to-day operational issues
across Trust sites
- Supporting additional premises work during school holidays where required
You may also be required to respond to emergency callouts, including during adverse weather or unforeseen incidents. Additional payment or time off in lieu will be provided in these circumstances, in line with Trust arrangements.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong practical skills, including DIY,
basic repairs, painting and general maintenance
- Takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and
well-presented school environments
- Can work independently and use initiative
- Is reliable, flexible and solution-focused
- Has a good understanding of health and safety
requirements
- Is willing to learn the operation of multiple
school sites
- Communicates well with school leaders, staff,
contractors and the wider Estates Team
- Is comfortable working across more than one
location during the working week
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional conduct in a school environment
This role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on practical work, can respond calmly to operational issues and is committed to helping schools provide safe and effective learning environments for children.
