About this Role
To deliver high-quality, engaging and therapeutic Science teaching within Arise Education’s secondary provision, supporting children with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioural and additional learning needs.
The post holder will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside HLTAs, pastoral staff and leaders to create safe, nurturing and ambitious learning environments where children can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
To plan and deliver engaging, creative and adaptive learning experiences for secondary-aged children in line with Arise Education’s curriculum approach and Curriculum Policy.
To teach small groups and individual children on a 1:1 basis using relational, flexible and child-centred approaches.
To utilise creative methods of teaching to engage students who may have experienced barriers to education or trauma.
To support children’s academic, emotional and social development through nurturing and therapeutic practice.
To follow Arise Education’s “Learning Loop” cycle of learning, including assessment, reflection, adaptive teaching and responsive planning.
To plan well-structured lessons and learning activities that meet the differing needs, interests and starting points of children.
To assess, monitor and record student progress accurately and in line with school expectations.
To mark and provide feedback on learning in accordance with Arise Education’s assessment approaches.
To contribute to curriculum development, schemes of learning and wider provision planning.
Relationships and Teamwork
To work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a centre team, including alongside HLTAs, SEND and pastoral staff.
To build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with children, families and professionals.
To communicate with parents, carers and external stakeholders as appropriate.
To contribute positively to team meetings, reviews, CPD and reflective practice processes.
Safeguarding and Pastoral Care
To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
To abide by Arise Education’s Safeguarding Policy, Staff Code of Conduct and all relevant policies and procedures.
To contribute to the creation of safe, calm and nurturing environments that support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
To support positive behaviour through relational and restorative approaches.
General Duties
To supervise and oversee support staff as directed;
Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, equal opportunities, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to DSLs.
To attend staff meetings and CPD sessions as relevant and required.
Undertake any other duties consistent with the objectives and level of responsibility of the post as may be required by the Core Team.
