About this Role

Our 'Bring It!' vision requires us to ensure our pupils are excited by and fully engaged in their learning and school experience more widely. We support them to use their talents to create positive school memories with their friends that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

Our aim is to inspire a lifetime of adventure.

As a Church of England Trust, we support its vision for education which is deeply Christian, with Jesus' promise of 'life in all its fullness' at its heart.

Would you like to use your knowledge and experience to make an impact on the lives of the children in our 14 primary schools? You don’t need previous experience as a trustee - just a strategic mind and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and work as part of a team to support and challenge our CEO and Executive Team so that our schools can become outstanding, providing our children with the best possible educational experience.

St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust is seeking enthusiastic individuals with relevant knowledge and experience to volunteer as trustees.   Trustees are drawn from a variety of backgrounds (professions like accountancy and the law; the education sector; the church; and the community) and make a vital contribution to the success of our trust and its schools.  The MAT Directors hold the legal liability for governance but delegate certain roles & responsibilities to local governors.

Following your induction, your estimated annual time commitment will include:

Preparing for and attending in person at trust head office six board meetings (24 hours)

Preparing for and attending online 3 board committee meetings (12 hours)

Mandatory online training (10 hours)

Subject to availability, occasional involvement in trustee panels (hours unspecified)

  • You will also be invited to be a link trustee for a specific area, e.g. pupil premium. This can provide more of a focus to the role (a role description and guidance will be provided).

You will be offered an induction and support from the trust's Head of Governance, the MAT Board Chair or Vice Chair and the relevant MAT Board Committee Chair

  • St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Please be aware that all shortlisted candidates will have an online search conducted as part of the Trust’s due diligence checks in line with KCSIE.
