About this Role
Habs has been awarded Independent School of the Year 2025, with Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools receiving both the award for Outstanding Educational Partnerships and the overall top accolade of Independent School of the Year 2025. This recognition reflects our long-term commitment to social impact and the deep, sustained collaborations we continue to build with our state sector partners. It is an exciting time to join our community.
Every morning and afternoon, hundreds of students travel safely to and from Haberdashers' Elstree Schools. Behind each journey is a dedicated team ensuring everything runs smoothly, and we're looking for an organised, approachable and proactive Transport Coordinator to join them.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll combine administration with hands-on operational support, helping to keep our coach park running efficiently, maintaining transport records, supporting colleagues across the Schools and providing excellent service to students, parents and transport providers.
If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a busy environment and take pride in being organised and reliable, we'd love to hear from you.
This role is term-time only, working 30 hours a week, 6 hours a day.
About the Role
As Transport Coordinator, you'll provide essential administrative and operational support for the school's transport services, working closely with the Transport Officer to help deliver a safe, efficient and well-organised service.
You'll spend time both in the office and out at the coach park, supporting students and drivers during arrivals and departures, coordinating transport administration and ensuring our records, systems and communications remain accurate and up to date.
From processing bookings and maintaining compliance records to responding to enquiries and supporting school events, you'll play an important role in the smooth running of one of the school's busiest operational services.
What you'll be doing
You'll be involved in:
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of the school's coach park during busy arrival and departure periods.
- Providing a welcoming and professional point of contact for students, parents, staff and coach operators.
- Maintaining accurate transport records, schedules and documentation.
- Coordinating transport administration, bookings and communications.
- Supporting the administration of the school's minibus fleet, including bookings and compliance records.
- Processing invoices and maintaining transport-related financial records.
- Assisting with transport arrangements for educational visits and school events.
- Helping to ensure transport information is accurate, up to date and readily available.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Exceptionally organised, with strong attention to detail.
- Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with a wide range of people.
- Calm under pressure and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working both outdoors during coach operations and in an office environment.
- Proactive, reliable and happy to take ownership of administrative tasks.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and learning new systems.
- Passionate about providing excellent customer service.
Previous experience in administration, customer service, school operations, logistics or facilities would be beneficial, but above all we're looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to support colleagues and students.
What we offer:
- A competitive salary, commensurate with the candidate’s experience
- The opportunity to work in a vibrant, ambitious, and supportive school community alongside exceptional colleagues who are deeply committed to excellence and to one another
- Generous private pension scheme through Aegon with substantial employer contributions
- Life assurance and income protection cover, providing financial security and support should you be unable to work due to long-term illness
- Access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), offering confidential support, guidance, and advice
- Extensive professional development and training opportunities within a culture that values growth and continuous learning
- Free lunch and refreshments during the working day
- Free onsite parking and access to the Schools’ extensive coach network
- Free access to excellent sports facilities, including the gym, swimming pool, and fitness classes
- Wellbeing initiatives and programmes, including yoga, mindfulness sessions, and health checks
- Access to an online GP service, providing quick and convenient healthcare advice
