About this Role

Habs has been awarded Independent School of the Year 2025, with Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools receiving both the award for Outstanding Educational Partnerships and the overall top accolade of Independent School of the Year 2025. This recognition reflects our long-term commitment to social impact and the deep, sustained collaborations we continue to build with our state sector partners. It is an exciting time to join our community.

We are looking for a friendly, organised and customer-focused Transport Support Officer to join our Estates team at Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools. This is an important frontline role for someone who enjoys helping others, solving problems and delivering a high standard of service in a busy school environment.

Working closely with the Transport Manager and colleagues across the Schools, you will act as the first point of contact for all home-to-school transport enquiries. You will triage and resolve queries received by telephone, email, app messaging and the transport helpdesk, ensuring every interaction is handled efficiently, courteously and professionally.

The hours of work will be 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours a week), with the successful candidate ideally working Term-Time plus 4 weeks (39 weeks a year). This is a fixed term role for 12 months.

This is a varied role that also supports the smooth running of the school minibus fleet. You will coordinate staff bookings, arrange vehicle and key collection, organise servicing, maintenance and repairs, and assist with the booking of coaches for school trips and fixtures. Alongside this, you will provide essential administrative support to the transport team.

We are seeking a well-organised, proactive and approachable individual with experience in a customer-facing role, excellent communication skills and confidence using Microsoft Office. You will be able to work independently, use your initiative and remain calm, patient and solution-focused when dealing with queries.

If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where your contribution helps support a thriving school community, we would be pleased to receive your application.

What we are offering:

  • A salary of up to £27,000 (FTE) per annum
  • Private Pension Scheme through Aegon
  • Additional life insurance cover
  • Access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), providing confidential support and advice
  • Financial assistance for obtaining further qualifications
  • Extensive professional development training opportunities
  • Free lunch and refreshments
  • Free onsite parking and access to travel on the schools extensive coach network
  • Free access to state-of-the-art sports facilities including the gym, swimming pool, and fitness classes
  • Wellbeing initiatives and programmes, such as yoga, mindfulness sessions, and health checks
  • Access to an online GP service, providing quick and convenient healthcare advice
  • Access to Vivup, the staff benefits platform, featuring discounts, financial advice, and wellbeing resources

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
