Are you an exceptional teacher of Science with a passion for raising standards, driving excellence, and shaping the future of teaching and learning across multiple schools? We are seeking an ambitious and inspirational Assistant Director of Science, preferably with a specialism in Chemistry, however Biology and Physics specialists will be considered, to join our central School Improvement Team.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven educational leader to influence practice across departments, develop high-quality teaching, and support the ongoing improvement journey within our Trust.

As Assistant Director (Science), you will work closely with the Director of Science to:

  • Play a visible and influential role in improving the quality of Science teaching and learning across the Trust.
  • Drive developments in pedagogy, curriculum design and assessment practice within Science departments.
  • Support Heads of Department, Curriculum Leads and SLT in fostering a culture of professional growth and self-evaluation.
  • Lead the creation of engaging schemes of learning, resources and strategies that challenge and inspire learners of all abilities.
  • Coach, mentor, model and team-teach to build capacity and strengthen classroom practice.
  • Support departments in setting ambitious student achievement targets and ensuring effective monitoring and review.
  • Promote excellent behaviour for learning and embody the Trust’s values of mutual respect, ambition and resilience.
  • Deliver high quality first teaching and intervention to key groups from KS3 – KS5

About You

We are looking for a science specialist (chemistry preferred) who can demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience with outstanding classroom practice.
  • A proven track record of excellent results at KS3 & KS4, with experience improving student progress.
  • Strong curriculum, assessment and moderation knowledge in Science.
  • Experience of leadership
  • The ability to use data effectively to drive improvement.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively across a Trust-wide structure.
