Weekly hours:  25 hours per week

Working hours: Monday to Friday – 9am to 2pm

Working weeks: 39 weeks per year (term time only plus inset days)

Paid weeks: 44.6

Salary: £13.75 per hour plus contribution towards milage for required travel between locations

Actual annual salary £15,331.25

The Gateway Kitchen is seeking a highly adaptable and reliable Cover Chef to support our in-house catering teams across multiple school sites. This role involves working across schools in the Portsmouth, Gosport and Fareham area, including providing short notice cover when required. This position requires access to your own reliable transportation to travel between sites.

As our network continues to grow, the range of sites you support may expand, so flexibility and confidence working in different school kitchens will be essential.

You will:

• Bring at least 2 years of professional chef experience

• Prepare high quality, nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors

• Step confidently into different kitchens and adapt quickly to each school’s routines

• Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards

• Support the smooth running of breakfast, snack and lunch services

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across The Gateway Kitchen

• Demonstrate reliability, flexibility and a positive, proactive attitude
