About this Role

Finding Futures is a specialist further education college based at the Royal United Hospital Bath and The University of Bath.

We are seeking a skilled and flexible Communication Support Worker (CSW) to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a deaf and Autistic young person enrolled on a Supported Internship programme.

This role is primarily focused on facilitating communication to ensure the learner can fully access both:

·        Classroom-based learning (around 20% of their timetable)

·        Work experience placements (around 80% of their timetable)

You will play a key role in enabling the learner to engage with colleagues, supervisors, and training staff, helping them develop independence and confidence in workplace environments.

Key responsibilities

·        Provide communication support and interpreting (e.g. BSL, lip speaking, note-taking) across classroom and workplace settings

·        Support the learner to understand instructions, training content, and workplace expectations

·        Adapt communication and information to suit the learner’s needs

·        Facilitate effective communication between the learner, staff, peers, and employers

·        Support the learner in developing independence and workplace communication skills

·        Assist with navigating new environments, routines, and social interactions in the workplace

·        Work collaboratively with tutors, job coaches, and employers to support learner progression

·        Maintain accurate records and provide feedback on progress

This role combines traditional CSW responsibilities with broader support to enable access to, and progression within, employment-focused learning environments.

What we’re looking for

·        BSL Level 3 (or equivalent) or working towards

·        Experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired individuals

·        Ability to work across classroom and workplace environments

·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·        Flexible, proactive and solution-focused approach

·        Commitment to inclusion and enabling independence

Why join us?

·        Opportunity to support a meaningful transition into employment

·        Varied role across classroom and workplace settings

         Very supportive, specialist team environment
