Job Purpose

To provide high-quality care, education, and support to children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where every child can develop and thrive.


Key Responsibilities

Childcare & Education

  • Deliver high-quality early years care and education in accordance with the EYFS framework

  • Plan, observe, and assess children’s learning and development, contributing to individual learning journeys

  • Support children’s emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development

Health, Safety & Safeguarding

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment at all times

  • Follow safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures

  • Carry out daily risk assessments and ensure health and safety standards are met

  • Promote good hygiene, healthy eating, and positive behaviour

Working with Parents & Carers

  • Build positive, professional relationships with parents and carers

  • Share information about children’s progress, routines, and wellbeing

  • Support parent partnerships and encourage parental involvement

Teamwork & Professional Practice

  • Work effectively as part of a team to deliver outstanding childcare

  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and supervision

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

  • Uphold nursery policies, procedures, and values at all times


Essential Requirements

  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain)


Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting

  • Knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice
