About this Role

Join Our Board of Trustees

The Diamond Learning Partnership Trust (DLPT) is seeking committed and experienced individuals to join our Board of Trustees.

DLPT is a growing academy trust of 15 schools across northern Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We educate over 4,000 children, supported by a dedicated workforce of around 700 staff. Our schools span early years through to post-16, and we have a strong track record of school improvement, with all schools now judged Good.  Our most recent inspection saw a strong standard reported in all areas.

About the Trust

Our ambition is simple: to create schools where every child achieves the highest possible standards through high-quality teaching and learning.

We believe in a collaborative, sector-led approach working closely with partners to develop and share best practice, whilst making the most of the expertise within our own schools.

Headteachers are empowered to lead their schools within a clear Trust framework, enabling strong local leadership alongside collective responsibility for outcomes across the Trust.

Why Join the Board?

As a Trustee, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the Trust and improving outcomes for children.

This includes:

  • Setting strategic direction – contributing to the vision, values and long-term development of the Trust
  • Providing challenge and support – holding executive leaders to account for educational and organisational performance
  • Overseeing financial and organisational sustainability – ensuring resources, estates and services support high quality education

You will be joining a strong and evolving Board, working with a CEO focused on the next phase of the Trust’s development, including growth and strengthening provision across all schools.

Who We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in:

  • Estates and asset management – including capital planning, compliance, or large-scale asset oversight
  • Legal – particularly governance, contracts, or regulatory frameworks
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – strategic or operational experience improving provision and outcomes

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with senior-level experience in these areas who can contribute at a strategic, board level.

More broadly, we are looking for people who can:

  • Think strategically and operate at board level
  • Work collaboratively and provide constructive challenge
  • Bring an external perspective to a complex, multi-site organisation

Experience in education is not essential, a strong interest in improving outcomes for children is far more important.

The Impact You Will Make

Trusteeship is a voluntary role, but one with significant impact.

You will:

  • Contribute to decisions that shape the future of our schools
  • Help improve life chances for young people across our communities
  • Support strong governance through accountability, transparency and challenge
  • Gain experience in how an organisation operates at a strategic level.

We actively welcome applications from individuals who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

Challenges and Opportunities

DLPT continues to operate in a challenging environment, including financial pressures and projected reductions in pupil numbers.

At the same time, we have clear ambitions for the future including targeted growth and the potential expansion of secondary provision, building on our strong track record of school improvement.

Strengthening our expertise in estates, legal and SEND will be an important part of ensuring we are well-placed to meet these challenges.

How to Apply

If you are interested in making a meaningful contribution to education, we would welcome an initial conversation.

Please contact Jonathan Lewis, Chief Executive Officer, at cfoo@diamondlearningtrust.com for an informal discussion.

Shortlisted candidates will meet with the Chair, CEO and members of the Board prior to a recommendation for appointment.
