Job Purpose 

Supporting the leadership and management of science  across RLT Primary schools to secure:

• Coherent and sequential curricula in schools

• Excellent teacher subject knowledge

• Effective development and use of resources

• Improved outcomes for pupils

• And to develop trust wide science enrichment activities and opportunities

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead a Trust-Wide network of primary phase professionals in the area of science

• Prepare an action plan for science which fulfils the main purpose of the role (see above). To include:

• holding meetings to support professional development of Humanities subject leads 3 times a year 

• supporting schools with developing a coherent, rigorous history/geography curriculum in light of the reviewed National Curriculum

• working with individual schools to support hist/geog curriculum delivery and improve subject outcomes

• developing trust wide science enrichment activities and opportunities

• Communicate effectively with the SCPs/DoE in the delivery of the action plan

• Provide feedback to schools, the CEO and the Trust Board as necessary on progress against the action plan.

The Postholder will have:

• Successful experience of science subject leadership 

• Excellent knowledge of the current National Curriculum and a developing insight of the curriculum review in 2026

• Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning strategies; the ability to model this for others and support others to improve

• Awareness of local and national organisations that can provide support with the  delivery of the science curriculum

• Good IT skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The TLR3 for these responsibilities will be paid for a period of 1 year till 31st August 2027.
