About this Role

In most IT jobs, you’re stuck in one building doing the same thing. Not here.

In this role, you get the best of both worlds. Half your week is spent at The Swan School, helping run a modern secondary site. The other half is split between supporting our Primary Schools (who will see you as their tech hero) and working on big, exciting projects with our Central Trust Team.

You will be the person who:

  • Saves the day: When a tricky technical problem pops up that others can’t fix, you’ll dive in and find the answer.

  • Keeps things running: You’ll look after the "engine room" - the servers, the WiFi, and the security that keeps the internet safe for our students.

  • Leads the way: You’ll help set up new equipment, test out new software, and even help junior staff learn the ropes.

  • Helps us grow: When a new school joins our Trust, you’ll be on the front line helping them get their tech up to speed.

Is this you?

You don’t need to be a walking encyclopedia, but we are looking for someone who:

  • Knows their way around a network: You’re comfortable with Windows, Google Workspace, and making sure the WiFi actually stays on.

  • Strong Communication Skills: You can explain technical issues and solutions clearly to staff and students who may not be tech-savvy.

  • Likes a change of scenery: You’ve got a driving licence and don't mind popping over to different schools to help out.

  • Is a problem solver: You enjoy figuring out why something isn't working and finding solutions.

Why work with us?

  • We’re flexible: We know life happens! We offer flexible working options where the job allows.

  • We’ll help you grow: You’ll get training, mentoring, and the chance to work on big projects that look great on a CV.

  • A great package: A solid pension, staff wellbeing support, and a team that actually has your back.

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

The River Learning Trust reserves the right to consider and interview candidates ahead of the closing date if appropriate. An offer may be made to an exceptional candidate in this instance.
