Shape the Future. Teach with Purpose. Train with Us.

We are proud to offer a high-quality School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme across our Multi Academy Trust, delivered in partnership with Teach First. This partnership combines nationally recognised teacher training expertise with our strong local school networks, ensuring trainees are exceptionally well prepared for the realities of the classroom.

Our SCITT programme is designed for ambitious, values-driven individuals who believe education is a powerful driver of social mobility and who want to make a meaningful difference in local communities.

Our Non-Negotiables

A ‘No Limits’ Attitude Towards Children
We believe no child should be limited by their background or starting point. Every child within BMAT Education deserves the opportunity to progress from where they are now to somewhere better. This belief is non-negotiable and underpins all aspects of our work.

Letting Teachers Truly Teach
We empower teachers to exercise professional judgement. While trainees benefit from an evidence-informed training framework through our partnership with Teach First, we avoid overly prescriptive approaches, enabling instinctive, responsive teaching that inspires pupils.

Local Schools with Local Personalities
We celebrate the individuality of our schools. Each school reflects its local community, character, and context. Trainees gain experience across diverse environments while benefiting from a coherent, MAT-wide training model.

Funding and Financial Support

A range of funding routes may be available, subject to eligibility and national policy:

  • Trainees on the fee-funded route may be eligible for tax-free bursaries or scholarships in selected subject areas - Up to £31,000 (scholarships) or £29,000 (bursaries) in eligible subjects
  • Trainees may also be able to access student and maintenance loans to support tuition fees and living costs.

The level of financial support available depends on factors such as subject specialism, degree classification, and prior experience. Full guidance will be provided during the application process.

What We Offer

  • A school-led SCITT programme delivered in partnership with Teach First
  • High-quality mentoring and coaching from experienced practitioners
  • A balance of nationally recognised training and immersive classroom practice
