Make a Lasting Impact on Education in Your Community

Are you passionate about education and eager to help shape the future of young people in our rural communities? The Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust ("Trust") is seeking dedicated, professional, and forward-thinking individuals to join our Board of Directors.

Our Mission: Grace, Service & Family
Rooted in the values of the Church of England, the Trust is committed to delivering high-quality education through a spirit of grace and service, supporting families across Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Worcestershire.

About Us
We are a family of 20 academies—18 Church schools and 2 community schools—serving over 3,500 pupils and employing more than 500 staff. Our leadership team includes 14 Headteachers, 6 of whom are Executive Headteachers. With an annual turnover in excess of £25 million, we are a significant educational presence in the region.

Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with expertise in:

  • Finance
  • Legal
  • Human Resources
  • Estates Management

Previous board experience is not required—we offer a full induction and ongoing support. Experience with educational charities or local governing boards is a plus.

Your Role as a Director
As a member of our Board, you will:

  • Guide the strategic direction and governance of the Trust
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies including the Charity Commission and Department for Education
  • Safeguard Trust assets and oversee responsible resource management
  • Champion our ethos and values
  • Collaborate with fellow Directors to make informed decisions
  • Support and challenge Trust leaders to drive excellence in education

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the long-term success of our schools and the communities they serve.

Commitment & Remuneration

  • The full Board meets four times per year
  • Opportunities to join committees: Finance (Audit & Risk) and Standards
  • This is a voluntary role; reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed

Interested?
If you’re inspired by our mission and believe you can contribute to the strategic leadership of the Trust, we would love to hear from you.

To express your interest or request further information, please contact: Karen Bowen Governance Officer & PA to CEO k.bowen@dhmat.org.uk

Join us in shaping the future of education across our diocese.  Your expertise could make a lasting difference.
