About this Role

Location: Central Team – Southern Hub Academies.

Travel between academies to be expected;  a full driving licence is essential.

Hours: 16 hours - Permanent, Part-time, Term-time only.
Salary: TST Grade 5 SCP 6-9 (£25,989-£27,254 FTE)

Role Purpose

The Trust Attendance and Welfare Officer will work under the guidance of the Trust Home School Link Worker to provide dedicated support to the Southern Hub academies, including:

  • Monitoring and supporting attendance and absence across the hub schools.

  • Providing welfare support to families and students who need particular help in overcoming barriers to attending school.

  • Supporting children and families to engage fully with school life, complementing the work of teachers and other school staff.

  • Helping schools to raise standards of achievement, improve attendance, and enhance behaviour.


Key Responsibilities / Tasks

As part of the Attendance & Welfare Team , you will:

  • Monitor attendance daily and identify patterns of absence or concern.

  • Conduct administrative tasks, including sending letters, making phone calls, and following up on absences.

  • Maintain accurate records and produce attendance reports for schools and the trust.

  • Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of students is at the forefront of all work.

  • Attend meetings with schools, families, and other agencies to support children’s needs.

  • Build strong relationships with students and families, offering guidance, advocacy, and access to resources.

  • Identify barriers to attendance and learning and work with families and schools to overcome them.

  • Collaborate with teachers, social services, and other agencies to provide coordinated support.

  • Facilitate workshops or family learning sessions where appropriate to improve engagement.

  • Contribute to the development of central team strategies, sharing insights from your work on the ground.

  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with students, families, and school staff.

  • Build strong relationships and trust with students and parents.

  • Manage administration and reporting, including letters, phone calls, record keeping, and attendance reports.

  • Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of all students.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams and attend meetings to support families’ needs.

  • Drive confidently between schools, as this is a multi-site role.

  • Be resilient, organised, and proactive, with excellent problem-solving skills.

Interview Information: Please note that the interview day will involve two school locations: your task will take place at one school, and the interview will be held at another. Access to a vehicle and the ability to drive between sites is essential.
