About this Role

We are looking to appoint a School Business Manager to work across the Shillington and Stondon Federation both of which are welcoming village school communities. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, supportive and dedicated team.  You will be a positive, dynamic and flexible professional with a strong School office background.  Working closely with the Headteachers and Governing Board, you will help to shape the strategic direction of the schools while leading all aspects of business operations. This includes oversight of finance, HR, administration, premises management, and health & safety, ensuring the two schools run efficiently and resources are used effectively to support the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and monitoring of the school budget and 3-year financial plan
  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including payments, reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with DfE and Local Authority financial regulations
  • Oversee recruitment, HR administration, payroll checks and staff records
  • Maintain the Single Central Record and manage safeguarding checks
  • Lead on health and safety compliance and statutory premises checks
  • Manage suppliers and coordinate maintenance or repairs as required
  • Development of school financial policies and procedures
  • Support general school administration.

We wish to appoint someone who:

  • Ideally has experience using school finance packages e.g. Arbor 
  • Knowledge and experience of schools account procedures·        
  • Ideally has experience working in a school office
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise and work well under pressure  
  • Is well organised with excellent IT Skills. 
  • The ability to respond well to unexpected changes on a daily basis, working in a professional and proactive manner.
