About this Role

Make a Difference in Local Education – Become a School Governor

Are you passionate about your local community? Do you want to help shape the future of education for children and young people in our area?

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our Local Governing Bodies within the Ambition Education Trust.

About the Role

As a local governor, you will play a vital role in supporting and challenging school leadership, helping to ensure high standards of education, strong safeguarding, and positive outcomes for every pupil. This is a strategic, non operational, role — focusing on vision, accountability, and community connection.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those who:

  • ·         Live or work in the local community
  • ·         Are committed to improving educational opportunities for children
  • ·         Can offer time, energy, and a willingness to learn
  • ·        Bring skills or experience in areas such as education, business, finance, HR, IT, law, construction/estates, data/statistics (no prior governance experience is required)

We are particularly keen to increase the diversity of our governing bodies so they better reflect the communities we serve.

 What You’ll Gain

  • ·        The opportunity to make a real impact locally
  • ·         Development of strategic and leadership skills
  • ·         Experience working as part of a supportive team
  • ·         Access to training and ongoing support

 Time Commitment

Governors attend LGB meetings each half term, engage in school visits and training.  Preparation and reading time is required, but we aim to keep this manageable.
