Job Title: Senior Infrastructure and Change Engineer
Location: Home-based with regular travel across the Trust
FTE Salary Range: £37,280 - £39,862
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time, All Year Round
Contract Hours: 37.5 hours per week
About the role
Reach South Academy Trust is seeking a highly skilled and forward thinking Senior Infrastructure and Change Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping, securing and evolving our IT infrastructure.
As a senior member of the IT Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the reliability, security and continuous improvement of the Trust’s core infrastructure platforms, ensuring they support teaching, learning and operational services across all academies.
You will line manage the Infrastructure Team and lead the planning and delivery of complex infrastructure change, balancing innovation with stability in a live education environment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading the management and implementation of the Trust’s core infrastructure and cloud platforms
• Managing and developing the Infrastructure Team
• Driving infrastructure change and onboarding of new schools
• Ensuring resilience, security, disaster recovery and compliance
• Championing automation, cloud adoption and modern engineering practices
• Working closely with operational and service teams to maintain excellent outcomes
• Communicating technical change clearly to non technical stakeholders
What we’re looking for
We are looking for an experienced infrastructure professional who:
• Has deep technical expertise across cloud, infrastructure, identity and security
• Has proven experience leading infrastructure teams and major technical change
• Is calm, pragmatic and risk aware in operational environments
• Understands safeguarding, GDPR and compliance within education or public services
• Is passionate about delivering reliable technology that supports schools
• Aligns strongly with Reach South values and behaviours
Experience within the education sector is desirable but not essential.
About the Trust
Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education. We operate 20 academies in Cornwall, Devon, Bournemouth, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles.
